The project of Carpe Diem is an oasis of well-being located on the Albanian coast. It consists of two separate structures, the restaurant, and the bar, both by the sea with a long coastline of sunbeds. The architecture has an organic philosophy matching the natural context. The restaurant gathers mostly friends and families therefore the atmosphere was to be curated cozy, stylish with a quality feel. The furnishings choices are based on exotic and bohemian radiances. For materiality, we used lots of wood, local and imported, natural textures, and cement finishes to represent the Mediterranean culture. The bar is built upon three primitive shapes, the circle which is the platform, the triangle which inspires the shade, and a cube which hosts the amenities. The layout of the space is divided into different typologies of sitting considering that the furnishings are arranged according to the events. During the day you have a laid-back vibe with the sunbeds on the edge of the platform closer to the sea, followed by handmade white teak and walnut lounge seating arrangement, going closer to the bar area we have added the high tables made by local artisans, and bamboo stools. A lot of greenery has been added to the terrain surrounding the structures enveloping it giving it a sense of serenity and refuge. The lighting scheme was made considering the day and night experiences. During the day numerous pendant lights dropping at different levels create a sense of an artistic installation. Whereas at night they emit a low flair almost as if you have lit a fire by the beach.
